Alphonse Gallegos Academy is building another path for K–8 families seeking flexible, high-quality learning options. The AGA model combines focused academic work, small-group support, peer community, hands-on enrichment, and a proprietary learning platform being developed to support a complete independent-study experience.
As families encounter waitlists, lotteries, limited enrollment capacity, and fewer flexible learning options, AGA is developing a complete K–8 learning model that combines curriculum, technology, in-person academic support, enrichment, and community.
Families may continue using coursework from the homeschool or independent study program they already use, or transition into AGA-assigned coursework as additional grade-level courses become available. AGA is developing high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum integrated directly into the AGA learning platform so students can move through lessons, assignments, submissions, feedback, grades, and progress in one connected system.
The in-person learning center adds what an online program alone cannot: focused academic support, accountability, peer interaction, hands-on enrichment, movement, projects, arts, practical skills, cultural experiences, and a consistent learning community.
Families choose either three 5-hour days or five 3-hour days each week. Both options total 15 scheduled program hours, operate within AGA’s 9:00 AM–4:00 PM program day, and combine core academic work with rotating enrichment. Early arrival is available beginning at 8:30 AM.
Both schedules follow the same philosophy: students begin with focused academic work and then transition into enrichment that gives them opportunities to create, build, move, communicate, collaborate, and explore.
During the core block, students work on assigned independent study coursework or, as grade-level courses become available, high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum integrated directly into the AGA learning platform. Staff help students identify priorities, understand directions, organize assignments, remain productive, and work through difficult concepts.
Enrichment blocks rotate by day and give students opportunities to create, build, move, collaborate, explore new interests, and learn beyond core coursework.

AGA is developing its own proprietary learning management system as part of a broader K–8 independent-study model. The goal is not simply to create another student portal, but to build a complete digital learning environment that can support students when traditional programs, charter options, or other flexible-learning pathways are full or difficult to access.
As AGA grade-level courses become available, students will be able to work through high-quality, standards-aligned curriculum integrated directly into the AGA learning platform. Coursework can be organized by grade, subject, course, unit, and lesson so students always have a clear next step.
The platform is being designed to connect curriculum delivery, assignments, digital submissions, grading, feedback, progress tracking, and family visibility. Combined with AGA’s physical learning center, the result is one connected model for academic work, support, accountability, enrichment, and community.

AGA’s academic blocks are designed to help students use their time well, build stronger independent-study habits, and receive support before frustration turns into lost time.
Students may be working on different grade levels, subjects, assignments, or curricula at the same time. The learning center does not require every child to move through identical material together.
AGA staff circulate during academic work time, helping students organize assignments, understand instructions, work through difficult concepts, and stay accountable to the goals they are expected to complete. As the AGA learning platform is completed, staff will also be able to see assigned work, submissions, grades, feedback, and progress in one place.
When several students need support in the same area, staff can bring them together for focused explanation, practice, discussion, or collaborative problem-solving.
Families may choose the three-day or five-day schedule. Both options provide 15 scheduled program hours each week and use the same program fee.
